The JTA is an association of community-based, nonprofit organizations offering job training, job placement support, and workforce development programs. Founded in 1987, the JTA has supported and advocated on behalf of its members and the broader workforce development community for over 30 years.

Goals

  1. To unite the voices of its member agencies and serve as a powerful advocate for substantive and sustained funding in support of workforce development and employment opportunity on behalf of disadvantaged and low-income populations

  2. To support its member agencies by enhancing their visibility to the public and providing a portal to their programs and events

  3. To provide a business forum for sharing information and professional development

  4. To offer professional networking opportunities for member agency staff and members of the broader workforce development community

Meetings

The JTA traditionally holds monthly Member Meetings. In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the meetings are now virtual and scheduled on an ad hoc basis. A permanent schedule for the year, which seeks to respond to the ‘remote,’ ‘hybrid’, and ‘distanced’ context of the present work environment is currently being developed.

Membership Dues

  • Regular Membership – $500.00

  • Introductory Membership: $250.00 (for the first year, $500.00 dues apply in the following year)

  • For agencies that do not offer structured job training programs: $100.00 annually

The JTA’s membership year is the calendar year: January through December. Dues and membership periods are pro-rated when appropriate.

Advocacy Support

On the occasion of joining the JTA and at the time of membership renewal, agencies are asked to consider a contribution to support the JTA’s advocacy efforts. The contributions – which are entirely voluntary – are used to contract the services of professional public relations firms to assist the JTA’s advocacy efforts.

Governance

The JTA is a volunteer-led member-focused organization guided by annually-elected officers and committee chairs who form the Executive Committee. Three sub-committees support key service and program areas:

  • Advocacy – charged with articulating and executing the JTA’s strategy on securing reliable and consistent funding for workforce development

  • Data/Research – charged with researching and documenting the impact of programs offered by the JTA’s member agencies

  • Special Programs – charged with developing and executing programs and events that benefit our member agencies

A part-time, compensated resource – the JTA Project Coordinator – provides administrative support and assists in communications.
